I have two daughters (ages 8 & 14) who have been taking modeling classes for over a year now.  I have spent alot of money on clothes, classes, comp cards, and Models of the South convention this past year.  They have both received call backs from a modeling agency wanting to sign them.  My oldest daughter has also been cast for a pilot show.  I would like to be able to use these expenses as tax deductions.  What are the necessary qualifications?  Can you give me the name of a tax adviser that is familiar with this industry?

You should try to locate a tax advisor in your state who has expertise in the entertainment industry, as each state has different rules.  Usually the trade papers will have advertising where you can find people like that, particularly this time of year (pre-April).  If you are unable to do so, the website irs.gov has a searchable database of free assistance and walk-in centers in your area, as well as a toll free number to call (1-800-829-1040) with any questions as to your specific situation.  Obviously, I would trust them first and foremost - and then contact a local tax preparer.
