Question
I'm not sure what to wear to an open casting call.  Its for a hair modeling show.  Also, if particular opportunity doesn't work out, how can I find other work modeling clothes, hair, etc.?

Answer
If there is no wardrobe specified, wear something business/casual or upscale comfortable.  (Sneakers, athletic wear, logos, hats, etc. are not something I would suggest.)  Since they will be looking at your hair and face, don't wear anything that distracts or interferes with that (like hair product, a turtleneck, distracting patterns, etc.)  They may photograph you, or ask you to walk for them, depending on what they need from their models.
Most models work through an agent, and I highly recommend that as a way to obtain job opportunities.  You pay them a percentage of the money you earn through them (usually 10-20%), but a good agent is well worth that and more.  You can use one of the modeling agency directories (located in your local library, bookstore or online) to obtain contact information for agencies closest to you.
Good luck to you,

I can answer questions from those looking to get into the fashion or commercial modeling industry. Specifically, the requirements, what is needed, how to find an agent, what they look for, how to avoid scams, the difference between what a commercial model does, and a fashion model, would travel/relocation be required, what is on a comp card and in your portfolio.

Experience

Both my acting and modeling resume/portfolio is available online on my website. I am a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and also have available my actor's demo reel and voice-over demo online. I founded both the Florida-Models.com and Florida-Actors.com websites, which provide free modeling and acting info to the public. I have moved into directing, producing and screenwriting - and have won awards for my writing. I have worked in the industry as both a model and actress in Florida, New York City and Los Angeles until October 2007. I now reside in Europe.
