Question
Hi J.D. I'm writing about a oil painting I bought at a garage sale. I don't know anything about paintings, but did some research on the inter-net and it looks like a Robert Natkin from his Apollo series 44x36 including frame. Its all vertical stripes, bright colors and pencil signed & dated 1981 on paper not canvas.I would like to sell it if it has any value but since I have no knowledge of art or value, how would I know if I'm getting a good deal or not?.I called a gallery in my city named Parkerson gallery and he wants to see it. What do you think would be the best way to handle this situation? Thanks Kim.

Answer
Hello.......follow thru on the gallery contact.....but also check in your yellow pages for art appraisals.....and see what the going rate would be for someone to check out this garage sale find.  You can also continue the internet checks....and take a look at art sales on eBay...to see if any of his other works have sold and for how much.

Wish I could give you a figure, but am not in that business.

All the best,
