Question
I have a very thin resume and have never sold a painting. I realize this might be a problem when approaching a gallery. How should I present my work to a gallery?

Answer
Depending on your work style, quality, etc., and whether it fits into what the gallery might want, your resume isn't as important as the artwork itself.

Put together a portfolio of a representative sample of your work...say ten 8 x 10 photo's with a lead in being your artist statement perhaps a one pager....incorporate your "thin resume" along with it....make sure you have your contact information, etc. included.

Also you might want to get a simple webpage [godaddy has some good designs and for only $9.95 a month they will host it for you]  Try eBay to try and sell some of your works, as I understand it you only pay if you sell, except for a small listing charge.

If there are a lot of galleries in your area, drop them a short note first and say you will be calling within a week to set up an appointment.  No gallery appreciates artists to just "drop in" with out an appt.

All the best in your career.
