Question -
What is the difference between "Fine Art" and any other art form?

Your article was interesting, but really did not answer my question.
Let me phrase it a different way.
If you were purchasing art for your gallery, what would you be looking for as an example of fine art in comparison to let's say americana.

Answer
Hello Sandi.

My mistake........thought you asked what is fine art?

Anyway.....in a fine art gallery, the usual inventory is contemporary art in any subject......and mostly oil on canvas [mostly but not always].  The works are "original" versus prints or limited productions.

My gallery is a middle of the road gallery, in the sense that we know abstract doesn't sell well here, and that original landscapes, still life, city scapes, sea scapes, etc., do well.  Our art is always on consignment...as is the case for most galleries.

Not sure what you mean by americana.......but if it is from artist who produced art in the early part of our history.....then no we don't pursue that type of art.

Hope this works........
