Question
Hello,
I am a metal sculptor. Currently I have a piece in my mind that includes some type of explicit sexual content. Do not get me wrong it is very artistic but with that type of adult theme. I will probably expose my pieces for the first time at a local public library. How can I handle the subject of including that piece in the exhibition.
Thank you
Alfredo Alamo

Answer
Dear Alfredo,

Unfortunately your venue for the exhibition is a public space and is open to children.  Therefore you might want to either show a photograph of the piece to the administrator of the library before you bring it to the exhibition or to arrange the exhibit that will allow parents or the public to only view the piece by positioning it in a more private way.  This is your work..and unless you are in a very provincial location, I don't think you should have any problems.

I think the best thing is to speak with the administrator......afterall, they must have books with similar or even more expliciit physical sexual expression.

good luck,
