Question
I am looking for someone to help my work get into galleries. I live in Indianapolis, IN. You can see my paintings at www.handsonart.net. I am not good at marketing myself. Have sent my website to galleries and only one responded - The Rogallery in New York. Indianapolis galleries did not respond at all. My work is mostly oils, and some mixed media. I am also a ceramist. Can you give me some help with getting "out there"? Thanks, Martina

Answer
Hello Martina,

You along with thousands of artists are looking to get into galleries....so be prepared to do a lot of leg work, and foot work.  You should definitely start locally, by visiting all the galleries in your area...see what they exhibit...what their guidelines are for submission....write first and then just show up to talk to the staff person in charge.

Check a publication called Art Calendar for good info [www.artcalendar.com]  also check Gallery Guide for a list of galleries and their addresses and websites.

Good luck!
