Expert: DJ Murphy - 8/17/2004

I'm not sure if you are the proper person to ask this question to, but I don't see a particular category about artists, or famous artists in general. I'm not sure how famous this artist is, but from what I've heard he is relatively new. His name is Rafal Olbinski. I saw his art on display in a gallery in Monterey once, some months ago. I fell in love with it. He is a surrealistic painter, from what I've been told, (I don't know if I said that right.) However I can't afford to buy any of his paintings, or even posters. I tried looking for some of his paintings on the Internet, I guess he did a lot of paintings for operas...That is what I mostly found.  I have searched and searched, and can't seem to find the ones I saw on display at the gallery. One was called "Explicit Introspection." I did find that one, but others I had a harder time finding. One in specific was of a clown-type figure similar to the one in Explicit Introspection, except in his chest these sort of doors opened up, the walls of them painted with the American flag, the inside a dark blue sky with stars, his arm bent, his hand entered here holding a rose.

Anyhow, I am sorry if you are the wrong person to ask, I just didn't know who else to ask about this artist. It is very hard to find the paintings I saw, especially when I can't remember what they were named. If you could help me, or know of someone who can, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi...would really like to help you with your search....but I don't know the artist, or his representative.  Your best bet is what you are doing...searching the net.  You might also send a message to the gallery in Monterey and tell them of your interest....even if you can't buy his art, I would think he might like to hear that you like it.
