QuestionGreetings DJ
I'm a sculptress interested in galleries who show real art...or any light in the plasticity of things. I am disillusioned with what i see around me and think it is going nowhere. Hence I have spent the last three years in Guatemala making art in peace and am now ready to bring the show on the road. I am currently in New york and feel nothing here which interests me. I lived and exhibited here for three years (www.subculturegallery.com, www.fusegallery.com) and am headed for mexico in two weeks. I am also interested in funding though i refuse to describe my work or my reason for it in any of the 'formats' which seem to be the standard requirement...i did apply for numerous grants a couple of years ago...to no avail...not surprisingly. So that's the scene!
I have a responsibility to show my work because what I have to say is worthwhile to others. The current state of the world and people's increasing need to escape from themselves disgusts me. I just came upon this site and ...well here i am. Would be glad to hear from you. My webasite is www.neever.com which will give you an idea of what i'm trying to communicate. Thanking you in advance

AnswerWell Niamh.........your website is terrific. I do like your work, but can see why you might be a bit disillusioned.
You're are a creative person......the masses aren't drawn to "message art"......if you don't mind the label. Funding for the arts is a mainstream activity [not all but most]...and so if you don't "fill in the blanks" you don't have much of a chance to be a beneficiary.
Not sure if you have a direct question [couldn't find one]or if you want use this as a catharsis for what you perceive as the state of the art world. Whatever........I wish you the best in your search for the right vehicle for exposure to your sculpture. I find it very interesting.
