QuestionGood Day,
i am a young artist in Ontario Canada i have many works and am (finally) interested in sharing them and ( hopefully ) having them appreciated- i know not which way to turn first looking for any hints, suggestions, etc.
Thank you for your time
Kristina
AnswerHello,
You could put on your own art exhibition at a local church, library, town hall, or any other venue which might allow you to display your art works. Then write a news release....as if it is being written about you by someone else....announcing the exhibition, [who, what, when, why, where, and how]. Send out announcements [perhaps post cards] to anyone and everyone you can think of [family, friends, neighbors, art galleries, etc.
Check and see if you have a local arts council [most U.S. communities have them...but not sure about Canada]...and join, and then network with the members.
Check out artcalendar.com on line.....it is a good magazine for artists and has many articles addressing your question.
All the best,
dj murphy
p.s. Also....get digital images of your works....put together a "free website".....and refer people to it vis a vis your exhibition announcement...and have business cards printed [think you can do this for free on line....if not go to a "Kinkos" or similar operation in Ontario] with your website, email address...and perhaps one side would be an image representative of your work. Give them to anybody you think could help you.
