Question
On the art contest rules for a juried show it reads: "Amount for which your work will be insured if selected."

I'm not sure what amount to put, or how it might influence the selection. What amount should I put?

Appreciated any help. Thank you!

Answer
Hey Jim.........do I look like an insurance agent?

Just kidding.......galleries most times insure the works of artists that they may be exhibiting.  Generally [and this is a general comment] the insured value of the work.....would be the value of the work sold at a retail price.  However...if I were responding to the question.....I would say the insured value is your share of the sale.  For example if the work is retailed for $1000 and your share is 50%...the you would indicate the insured value should be $500.  Basically you want coverage for your share.

Best wishes in getting selected.
