Question
Hi,

I have built up a reasonable portfolio of paintings and would like to exhibit them.

I would much rather do this through an interested gallery than by doing it myself by hirng an exhibition space etc.

I assume the best way to do this is copy your work onto a cd and send that cd to various galleries which may be interested. Are there any dos and dont's in doing it this way?

Regards and many thanks,

Michael Paul Cooper

Answer
Hello....it depends on the area you live in....and how widely you want to distribute the CD.  If you can, it might be better [or in addition to] develop a website to exhibit your work....and then selectively send the website address to galleries.....and indicate that you would be happy to send a CD of your work as well.  Some galleries still prefer to look at 8 x 10 images in a portfolio which means personal notes asking for an interview....so taking the three approaches might do well for you.

Best wishes,

p.s. You can get lists of galleries thru galleryguide.com and also by checking the Artcalendar.com websites.
