Question
i have a shield about three inches in length and about two inches wide.  It appears to be cast, and done in three stages.  The first being the shield, second appairing to be virgen mary holding a child and the third being what appears to be gold crowns on both the womam and child with angels on both sides.  The shield has the markings of a 3 with what appears to be a head with a star to the right and a V stamped next to it.  These markings are on both the back of the shield and on the lower section of the woman and child.  Also there are several stars about the woman and child and a 4 inch chain attached at the top tight and left of the shield.  If you could be so kind as to share your knowledge with me or point me in the right direction, it would be much appriciated.  Please excuse the sloppie typing, working with three broken fingers.

thank you,

Mark

Answer
Hello.........unfortunately this is outside my field of expertise.  I would suggest checking the yellow pages in your phone book for art appraisals..........and do the same on the internet.  You need someone who specializes in this type of work.

good luck,
