Question
I am currently enrolled in a bs of business degree from Kaplan university. Its an online school. I currently work full time @ a factory I make good money but its not fullfilling to me personally! I have a family so I need to be able to make a smooth transfer into the business field without losing money! My degree covers accounting, general business, management, finance, and touches on marketing and economics also. So I guess my question to you is after completing my degree where should I start to find a good stable job that pays similar to what I make now! I want to get into business but can't take a huge risk because I do have a family! Any insight you can give me would be great.

Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,
How I wish there were a simple answer to this question, but there isn't. There are so many things to consider that are personal to you and that only you can decide. How far you are willing to travel. What kind of businesses interest you? What is available in your area? Are you willing to relocate?
I'd suggest you start doing your homework right now. Go and have some informational interviews with companies in your area. See if one of the human resources people will meet with you to tell you what kinds of jobs you would be suited for and what they pay.
It would be nice to think that you can just make a smooth transfer, but it's rarely that neat. The more you can do before you graduate to define where you want to go and start to make contacts that will help you get there, the more likely it is that you can actually make what you want happen.
Best of luck.
Lois
