Question
Hello:  I am age 50, and recently finished an Accounting degree whilst laid off from a past job. My past experience was Technical phone support, and general phone support.

I would definitely not want to work in public Accounting, so considering my age, where are the areas of opportunity for breaking into the accounting field, and how do I target those areas, considering the soft job market ?

PS  would a CPA or CFA assist me in being marketable ?

Answer
RICH,

YES, the accounting  degree would be  useful.

both  CPA /CFA  would  be  very  useful.

MY SUGGESTIONS

-contact  tax consultants, who  hire  people  on  part time basis.

-like  H&R BLOCK  BUSINESS  SERVICES.
who  offer  both part time/  week end  work.

You need  practical  experience.

take  what  you  can  get/  gain  experience.

REGARDS
LEO LINGHAM
