Subject: Want to become IT manager

Question
Hi Leigh,

Thanks for reading my questions.
I want to become IT manager. What is the shortest and fastest way to accompolish?

Can I take A+,Network+ and project management for IT for IT manager?

Thanks in advance for your kind advice. Hope to hear ASAP.

~Phil

Answer
The shortest way to promotion is finding a job.  Employers often find it difficult to promote people because that person has responsibilities that is often difficult to transfer.

The absolute fastest way is to get to a leadership position and get hired into another firm as a manager.  But it is also the riskiest because you have no credibility and will often get very little or no support, and often expected to put in extra work/hours in return for the opportunity.

Good Luck,

Leigh
