Answer
Hi, Giovanni,

Your question is so broad all I can do is tell you, read
my book Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career.

You're asking the kinds of questions I was asking in 1999,
which started my research into how to change to a computer
career.

If I could tell you everything in a short email, I would
not have had to write the book :)

I will say upfront that there's no job position in IT
that somehow guarantees you'll never be laid off. However,
you can use IT skills not only on a job, but in your
own business too -- either part time or full time. That
helps to keep money coming in.

So I discuss both employment and self-employment potential
for all the types of IT specialties. Plus give you action
plans to get you started.
