Question
I have yukked up my record with DWI and Possession of marijuana.  I have been clean and sober for 5 years now.  I would like to become a helicopter pilot but don't know if I could even get hired with my record. I'm hoping someone can be really open and honest with me.  Do companies hire pilots with dirty records?

Answer
Thank you for your question,

Your chances are somewhat limited because you'll have to disclose ANY previous things like that. But there are freight companies that do hire people with previous records. If i were you I would check with Flight Schools prior to training and see what your chances will be! FYI...you might also want to explore to see if you would like flying freight...it is a different world...some people really like it and some don't at all!!! Also, finding a job in Alaska is always a possibility.

Good Luck in your future endeavors,

H2
