Question
Hi, I have a commercial licence (FAA) and was flying 3 years ago, total time about 2000+ hours, some of it being on a 737. I haven't been flying for 3 years now because I was out for medical (I am fit now) and I had a non flying job for 18 months. I am a UK citizen and I would like some advice on the next step for me, given that I am not current, it is proving to be difficult to find a flying job. What should I do? I want to go back to flying!

Answer
HI KM,
If you want to be current to fly in the US, the FARs simply state that you need to get a current medical and have a successful flight review with a CFI.  So now you need to decide if you just want Private Pilot privileges (class 3 medical) or Commercial (class 2) or even ATP (class 1).  If you want to fly instruments (assuming that you have that rating) you will need to fly with a CFII and get a sign-off.
With that all being said, you should get current flying the type of aircraft that you want to work with.  There are many schools that can offer that training.  I suggest that you go online and do a search for the area you desire.
I hope that this is the info that you were seeking.  If I misunderstood your question, get back to me.  Please keep in mind that my knowledge is limited to the US.
