AnswerHi,
It is nice to hear from you, I will try to assist!
Yes, there is a future in aviation, but, it will be slow going for the next two to three years. Each economic downturn is a bit different, but, this one looks like it will not be short. Most economists I have read indicate that the slowdown will go through 2009, and into 2010 before any sort of recovery begins. When the economy begins to recover, so will aviation and airlines. At that point, hiring and the recall of furloughed employees will begin. If this is like the last recovery (after the 9/11 attacks), then, there will begin to be shortages in aviation employment categories by as early as 2012 to 2014. What I think is that NOW is a good time to be in school to prepare for the next aviation hiring boom.....which will be in three to five years.
As for a bachelors degree in aviation, there is an excellent listing of college and university aviation degree programs entitled THE COLLEGIATE AVIATION GUIDE. It is available from the University Aviation Association at their website www.uaa.aero It mainly lists North American schools (USA and Canada).....they also have a publication entitled THE COLLEGIATE AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP LISTING which is available for viewing on the website (click on the "Scholarships" link on the main page of the UAA website noted above.
As far as MBA offerings in aviation, they are fairly few....Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA offers one as does Daniel Webster University in New Hampshire, USA.
Best wishes to you,
