Careers: Flying & Aviation/Air Traffic Control - Trainee hiring
Expert: Dacus T. Grant - 6/11/2009
QuestionI just graduated high school in 2008 with an advanced diploma in Sci/Math. I tested very high on SAT's. I was wondering with no college or aviation work experience what my chances where of getting hired right off the street? In the mean time I have been accepted in a CTI program in Baltimore.
AnswerDear Matt,
You need to go to the FAA website and look under the min requirements for air traffic controllers. I believe it is 3 year of school or work experience. When you get the experience, go to the FAA website under jobs and look for air traffic controller openings, work code 2152. Look for openings that say for all sources. Apply online and if you meet the qualifications they will set you up to take the ATSAT. You must pass the ATSAT to be hired as an air traffic controller trainee, even if you graduate from a CTI college.
Good luck,
