Careers: Flying & Aviation - What to take degrees in

Expert: David Bidwell - 6/9/2009

Question
Hi,

What would be the best degree(S) to take to become a airline pilot.

Answer
Hi George,
I do not believe that there is one particular degree that is best.  Most airlines just require a degree in something.  With that said, Pilots that graduate from an aviation college seem to have a better chance at securing a job.  Most of these schools offer job placement assistance.  I suggest that you contact some of these schools to see what they offer.  I am very happy with my alma mater, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (www.erau.edu)
Here are a few sites to get you started.
Good Luck, Dave Bidwell
