Experience
Past/Present Clients Prepared In addition to aviation education, I work at a major university, I have worked as an airport planner preparing airport system plans, airport master plan and environmental assessment reports for the Chicago area in general and for several
individual Illinois airports.
Question I am Mechanical Engineering Graduate. Presently i am working in an Airline & Airport software solutions company. I am interested to go further in this industry by entering into the Airline and Airport business side. So, I planned to take up a course on the same.
There is a dilemma that whether i should take up a short course or an MBA in this Airline & Airport business.
Whether can i make up my career path in this field or Can i look for the Mechanical engineering related.
Also please suggest, which short course will provide me a solution to well verse in this business, so that that is sufficient for me to get me a post of a Business Analyst.
Please suggest me which career path to choose..
Airline & Airport Industry (or)
Mechanical Industry.
Answer Hi, Shri:
Thank you for your question, I will try to assist!
The bottom line is that, if your training and education to date is all in mechanical engineering but you wish to work as a Business Analyst working in the airport and airport side of aviation, I would think that you need to get some background in the airline and airport business side of aviation.
Given that the airline business is a bit challenged right now, I would think that, instead of a "short course" in airline and airport studies, you should pursue a full MBA program in Aviation. In understand that there is such a program offered at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, main campus in Dehradun, India and the Centre for Aviation Studies campus in Gurgaon, India. Their website is http://cas.ueps.ac.in/ They specifically offer an MBA in Aviation Management and they also offer an electronic/web version of this degree as well.
If you wish to pursue a mechanical engineering path in the aerospace industry, you might also consider the Avionics degree offered at the same institution (UEPS). The Avionics field is quite exciting right now and seems to be full of opportunity. Given that you already have a mechanical engineering background, avionics would also be an excellent addition.
I hope that this information is of help to you. I wish you the best in your pursuit of a path in the aviation industry.
