Answer
Hi, Mafelelezo:

It is nice to hear from you!

I am writing to you only from the perspective of the market for dispatchers in the USA.  I am not an expert on aircraft dispatchers jobs in Namibia or the rest of Africa.

As for the USA market, airlines are just now coming out of a two year downturn in jobs.  They have earned good profits in the summer months, and, if that continues, I am expecting that there will be some hiring during the coming year (2011).  Of course, to work in the USA for an airline, you must first consider taking an airline dispatcher training course to prepare yourself for Federal Aviation Administration certification in that area. These courses are normally around 200 hours of class attendance, or more.  Approved Airline Dispatcher schools are provided by such companies as:

Pan Am International Training   at www.PanAmAcademy.com

Flight Safety International   at www.flightsafety.com

Sheffield  at www.sheffield.com

So, I would start with the training and, normally, the school that you go through will have some sort of placement program for their graduates.  They have good contacts with those who hire dispatchers.

I hope that this information is of assistance to you!

Sincerely,

David A. NewMyer
