AnswerHi, Karthik:
It is nice to hear from you! I apologize for the delay in response!
First of all, if you can gain employment with the bba in aviation management, that is good. One of the things to consider in gaining this first job is whether or not the employer will, after you work with them for a year or so, pay for some or all of the cost of going to school part time for an MBA in Aviation. This is sometimes a benefit of employment with some companies.
Second, the other thing to consider is that the TYPE of employment that you might want in aviation is only suited to the MBA in Aviation. In other words, investigate the entry-level job requirements at the aviation employers where you want to work and make sure what the qualifications are that they are asking for in new employees. If the kinds of jobs you want require the MBA in Aviation, then, that is your answer: You must pursue the MBA in Aviation.
With regard to pursuing an MBA in Aviation in India, I know of only one institution that offers such a degree and this is the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun, India. Their website for the MBA in Aviation Management is:
www.upes.ac.in/mba-avi-manag.html
Over the years, I have heard good things about the MBA in Aviation Management offered at UPES.
I have also heard that there is another MBA in Aviation offered by Hindustan University in Chennai but I do not know much about it. Their website is: www.hindustanuniv.ac.in/
What I would do if I were you is to check out the options for MBA in Aviation that are offered in India to see if you are interested in either program. My personal belief is that, if you can complete an MBA in addition to your BBA, you will have an extensive education background that will make you competitive for years to come. Since it looks like the global aviation industry will be recovering slowly into 2011 and since 2012 and 2013 look like very good years for aviation, if you can complete an MBA in the next two years, your timing will be excellent to match the recovery in hiring!
My very best wishes to you,
