QuestionRespected sir,
I am a 'science biology graduate' from India. I have planned a career in Aviation management but since there isnt much awareness of this course here I am unable to get a complete scenario of this industry.
I would want to know the following before I join this course:-
*Other recommended universities offering this course in India.
*Job prospects in this field in India and abroad.
*Nature of job. (Job work)
*Growth Prospects.
I hope to receive a reply from you as early as
possible sir. Thanking you for your timely gesture.

AnswerHi, Bhoomika:
Nice to hear from you, I will try to assist.
I know of two MBA programs in Aviation in India:
One in Chennai: Hindustan University. They can be reached at hetc@vsnl.com
The other in Dehradun: University of Energy and Petroleum Studies at

Job prospects in the aviation field will be quite good after about 2011 or 2012...that is when the full impact of the delivery of new airline aircraft ordered by airlines in India will begin to be felt. These new orders were placed when the economy was in full swing two to four years ago and some have been put off a bit--but, when they come, the economy will have picked up and that will mean many more jobs in aviation. So, NOW is the time to be in school and get that advanced degree to then be ready to be hired when 2012 comes.
The nature of the job or work with an MBA in Aviation working at an airline will likely be in one of the following departments or areas of the company:
Marketing or Sales
Fleet Planning
Airline Economics and Corporate Planning
Customer Service
Crew Scheduling
Maintenance Management
The growth prospects are very very good given the nature of the future forecasts for airline growth through the year 2030. My view is that the orders for Boeing and Airbus airliners will mean that the world wide airline market will grow tremendously over the next 20 years. Take a look at the aviation forecasts posted at

I wish you all the best.
Let me know if I can answer anything else for you. I will be out of town until April 7. Please email me a question after that date.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
