Careers: Flying & Aviation/About subjects needed

Hi, my name is nathaniel and i just finished my IGCSE examinations and im about to take an IB Diploma course. I have dreamed to be a pilot since i was in grade 3. I just wanted to know how important math is in piloting because im not so good in math but i still really want to be a pilot. i also want to know the kind of subjects i should select in my IB course.

Basic addition and subtraction for manual weight and balance calculations as well as basic algebra for figuring rounded number time, speed & distance problems is all you will need. You don't have to be excellent in math to become a pilot. Today, most math done by the Flight Management System which figures such calculations for you. Pilots back that up by doing quick simplified calculations in their head.

As far as what subjects you should take, I am not sure what is offered as part of your curriculum. (We don't have any such thing as a "IB Diploma" here in the United States so I do not know what courses are available.) The topics that will help you in the practical sense are basic math, meteorology and any course that improves your leadership, critical thinking and communications skills.
