QuestionDavid A. NewMyer,
After my regular MBA from India, I am willing to do diploma in Aviation Management. So far I have only seen Malaysia as the country offering this type of study. I want to know where in Asia are the best places to study Aviation Management. Besides, I came to learn that Aviation Management is a course extending around 1 to 1.5 years, so what is an appropriate length of study of that program? And, is employment to airlines guaranteed after the completion of the program?
AnswerDear Sagar:
I, too, have not seen any graduate-level diplomas in Aviation Management. I have only seen graduate level (master's degrees) in the subject. The ones I am aware of in the USA are as follows:
Aviation MBA degrees are offered by:
1. Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida, USA
2. Daniel Webster College, Nashua, New Hampshire
3. Dowling College, Oak Dale, New York
A degree in Technology with an emphasis in Aviation Management and Human Factors is offered by Arizona State University.
Also, a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Aviation Administration is offered by:
1. Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL 62901
2. University of Nebraska at Omaha
You might check the list of aviation graduate degrees at www.uaa.aero
As far as I am aware NONE of these degrees offer any sort of guaranteed employment after graduation. However, some of them, like the degree program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, have a paid internship program where you can gain some limited work experience as part of the program. You might ask about internship programs at the schools that you are interested in making application to (or at least when you request information from them).
Best wishes to you in your planning for a master's degree.
