Question
Thank you, Mr. NewMyer! I'd like to ask you another question. Is it possible for me ( a non-american citizen) to sign up in a flight training school in US, to get a PPL and then an ATPL? Do I need to get a bachelor degree first, as you wrote in the first letter, and then to get flight training or not?

Thank you a lot for your answer!

Sincere, Petar.

Answer
Hi, Petar:

No it is not necessary to obtain a bachelors degree first before getting your flight training.  All I was saying is that there are a number of universities and colleges in the USA where you can do BOTH a degree AND flight training at the same time (In other words, the degree earned is an aviation degree).  However, it is not a requirement that you get an aviation degree....you can get any degree that you want (business or whatever) and then fly in addition to the academic work.  However, it would be easier and less time consuming if you combined the degree work with the aviation pilot license work.

For a listing of universities and colleges that offer aviation degrees go to website of the University Aviation Association at: www.uaa.aero and then click on the "Colleges and Universities" link on the left hand side of the main page.  You will find there a listing of about 100 US colleges and universities that offer aviation degrees.

I hope that this helps.  Let me know if you have any other questions.
