AnswerHi, Sam:
Nice to hear from you. I will try to assist.
First of all, the future for avaition management globally is very good considering that the world's airlines will require the delivery of about 30,000 NEW airline aircraft by the year 2030. In order to support those new aircraft, a total of 466,650 new pilots and 596.500 new maintenance personnel will be required to be hired by that time to fly and support those aircraft. The number of new pilots needed in the Asia/Pacific Region (including India) will be 180,600 and new maintenance personnel will be 220,000.
Second, if you consider that, with over 1.0 million new pilots and maintenance personnel needed, there will need to be first-line supervisors and managers needed to both oversee all of that hiring AND there will have to be managers needed to oversee the employees once they are hired. And, this figure is JUST AT AIRLINES---it does not account for jobs at airports or at civil aviation authorities (national and state government regulatory bodies) and in general aviation (for corporate and business flying).
For more details on the above numbers, go to the The Boeing Company website www.boeing.com and look for a Press Release entitled "Boeing Projects Requirement for More Than One Million Pilots and Maintenance Personnel Over Next 20 Years" dated September 15, 2010.
I wish you the very best in your search for an excellent career in aviation.
Sincerely,
