Question
hi ,
i just finished my mechanical engineering degree and i am willing to head to aviation field in airline companies but i don't have any license in aviation . is there any available jobs for mechanical engineers in airline companies ? if not ,what should i do to work in airline companies ?

Answer
Jack,

As far as I am aware, there are a few, but, not many jobs for mechanical engineers at airlines.  There ARE some mechanical engineering jobs at AIRLINE AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURERS (such as Airbus Industries or The Boeing Company).

The best thing to combine with a mechanical engineering background to work in the airlines is an Airframe and Power Plants Mechanics Certificate (or some call it "Aircraft Engineering" or "Aircraft Maintenance Technician").  This licensing can usually be done in about two to 2.5 years and results in you obtaining an excellent background in Airframe Maintenance and Engine (or Power Plant) maintenance related to aircraft.

Such a license/certificate background, combined with a Mechanical Engineering background, should make you very employable with airlines.  And, as mentioned earlier, you might also look to the major airline aircraft manufacturers, too, for employment.  The jobs a manufacturers are more aircraft design and aircraft aftermarket/followup/maintenance program design while the airline jobs are more operational maintenance-oriented.

I hope that this helps!
