When you say you want to "get a foot in the door of the aviation business" and hope to fly, you aren't very specific about your aviation goals. I assume you are asking how to get into professional flying, even though you may be interested in an aviation related job in the meantime.

There are many ways one can get into aviation at entry level positions, but are you specifically interested in that? For the airlines? At the airport? In corporate aviation?

If you want to fly for a living it will take a quite a bit of money and time to invest in your training. As far as getting qualified and the route to an airline/pro pilot job, I suggest checking out my FAQ page on the subject to anwser your questions about how to become a pilot. It should give you all the background info you need to make some career decisions and how to get started. Quite often people have always dreamed of becoming a pilot, but are not informed about what to expect getting there and it's quite surprising to some. (It's not as glamorous at it may seem!) In addition, the links at the bottom of my site are a wealth of information for aspiring pilots. Once reading it over, let me know if you have more specific questions.
