Question
Hello Ms. Dottie Norkus
I want to thank-you in advance for taking the time from your busy day.
My question is that I feel that I am not getting a fair chance to show/prove my skills as a pilot. I have been to two interviews and both did not feel like interviews.  Honestly one felt like an interrogation and the other total disinterest. I feel that I am being discrimated against because of my ethnicity.  I have been in the States for 99% of my life and a citizen since the age of 5.
If you have any insights please pass them along because it will be greatly appreciated.
THANK-YOU again

Since you did not mention specific interview experiences, situations or questions I can't say what might be the issue here. Perhaps the interviewers have a bias or perhaps you need some interview preparation.

A technical interview should be very much like an FAA oral. If you know your stuff, then it will be easy. If not, they will dig deeper and you may feel interrogated.

The 'disinterest' I can't quite figure out. Maybe they are playing it too 'cool'. I have heard similar sentiment about the interviews at CoEx though.

The sim is the one place you can demonstrate your skills. You didn't mention of you had a sim ride, so I wonder if they had the chance to evaluate your instrument skills.

I suggest that you enlist the services of an aviation career counselor to help you see where you can improve your interview technique and or preparedness. Air Inc and Cage Consulting are both great for that. Their sole business is helping pilots get hired and preparing them for their interviews. I found their materials very helpful. Here are their websites so you can check out their services and inquire:

You should also go to www.aviationinterviews.com and read over the interview experiences people have had there and compare your interviews with the notes posted by others. Perhaps you can find some insights there as as well.
