Question
I know that class B airspace extends all the way up to 10,000 ft. so, you have to have a transponder from surface to cruising altitude even beyond 10,000 ft. In class C aispace, the shelf of class c airspace extends up to 4,000 ft. Do I need to have a transponder from 4,001 ft. to 9,999 ft when I am overflying the airspace. And secondly, I dont need to contact Class C airspace control if i overfly at 4,001 ft. and above right?

Thanks,
Korey

Answer
Hi Korey,
I hope you understand that those altitudes are AGL.  You are required to have an operating transponder with mode C when flying in or above Class C airspace.  You are also required to have an operating transponder with mode C when flying within the 30 nm veil of class B.
I hope this helps, if you have any other questions, you know where to find me.
Good Luck,
Dave
