Question
I am a junior in high school and am looking into becoming an air traffic controller or a commercial pilot. I was just wandering what colleges are out there in the Midwest that would be good for this profession?

Answer
HI,

There is an excellent listing of colleges and universities available from the University Aviation Association at www.uaa.aero or by calling 334-844-2434.  Ask for THE COLLEGIATE AVIATION GUIDE.  The cost is around $20.

As far as Air Traffic Control, there are a number of schools that are approved under the Federal Aviation Administration's "Collegiate Training Initiative"....go to www.faa.gov for a complete listing of schools.

As far as flight training programs in the midwest, some of the programs that have been around a while and offer quality flight training are:

Parks College of St. Louis University
Purdue University
Southern Illinois University Carbondale (where I work....)
Western Michigan University
University of North Dakota

Let me know if you have any further questions....
