Question
Hi, I'm a current student at Embry Riddle but I having a growing concern about my future after after I graduate.  I'm currently a Aero Sci major but I was thinking of changing to flight safety because it sounds intresting plus I think it would be better to get a well rounded education in avaition.  If my plan is to become a pilot do you think I should stick to Aero Sci or is it a good idea to get a diffrent degree as sort of a backup.  I'm planning on getting my flying done off campus.  Any response would be greatly appreciated thank you cherie

What a timely question! An ERAU education is a hot topic right now on one of my message boards. I agree, you are on the right track to consider Safety. If you ever lose your medical or get furloughed, you are more marketable and could  probably still find a job in this business. I also agree- it's far more interesting!

Personally, I find ERAU Extended Camous a far better value- esp if you are already going to do your flight training off campus. You can get your degree for the cost of one year at campus if you transfer half your credits from a community college. Check it out. You might find this ERAU thread of interest to read:

There is also a ERAU forum at the wonderful www.jetcareers.com website where you will find lots of posts of interest. Additioanlly, if you search for "ERAU" you will find hundreds at http://forums.flightinfo.com

Good luck with your decision. It sounds as if you are already on the right track!
