Question
Hi Dottie
Quick question, I am aware that the fE, positions are going away.Especialy with the major airlines.

Is there any hope for this career field in other areas of Aviation?(other than wanting to be a pilot)

I know its simply a matter of Economics and technology thats phasing out  this Career, but hopsfully there are still some ole school players out there that will continue to use FE,s. Any info would be apprieciated.

Thanks

There are a few carriers that still use and hire professional flight engineers. In the USA, UPS and Fed EX do have FEs, but competition for such slots is intense as they will eventually move onto a pilot slot. Other companies that are hiring PFEs will be lesser known cargo, ad hoc or charter operators. *Be aware that many require an Airframe and Powerplant Certificate as well to be hired as a PFE.* Here are a few operators that hire them I have read about on the net:

Express.Net, Miami Air, Falcon Air, Pan Am, Custom Air transport, ATI, Kitty Hawk, Ryan Air, Charter America.

This place hoffers a PFE program, but I can't vouch for it in anyway-

Do a search of some of the more popular aviation jobs websites and see what comes up for PFEs:

You should also try searching or posting about PFE jobs at these message boards for ideas:

Hope this helps,
