Careers: Flying & Aviation/Funding Flight Time.
Expert: Ismar Avdic, Eng. - 12/24/2007
QuestionI am having a very hard time funding my flight time outside of my regular schooling. I used to own a construction company and when the bottom fell out of the industry recently, we had to close our doors. Needless to say, my credit sucks and the option of a cosigner is not available.
It has always been my dream to be a pilot and am a fixed wing private pilot. How do I find the funding for the rest of my flight training with challenged credit. I have been shut down by almost everyone.
Any ideas, secrets, or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Matt

AnswerMatt, that is tough I know. It is hard to get loan with credit that is not the best. I would suggest pay flight lessons as you go. That is the long known princip that majority flight students pay for flight training. In that case you do not have to have excellent credit just cash or checkbook with you. Ask fligh schools if they are looking somebody to wash planes, clean FBO or similar jobs and in exchange you will be willing take flight lessons in exchange. That always works with some of flight schools.
Good Luck
