Question
Hi, I’m deciding about whether to pursuit a helicopter career or not. Looking at the statistics on www.rotor.com I see that most of the accidents happen during training (1/3 off all accidents). Is there a way to find out the safety record for each helicopter school here in the US?

Thanks!

Regards,
Chris

Answer
Chris,

As far as I know, there isn't a database of 'safety records' by flight school. However, any accidents or incidents of note are in the NTSB online database which can be found here-

http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp

You can search for a specific school name or region and read all the associated reports.

If you would like to know more about pursuing a helicopter pilot career, reply to me with an Email contact and I will put you in touch with a friend of mine who is a recent career changer and new helicopter tour pilot.
