Question
Hello, I have a Canadian category 1 medical and commercial license with the multi IFR group one endorsement and a class four instructor rating. I am wondering what I would need to do in order to be able to instruct in United States. (Details on license convertions are my main concern)
I've looked through the FAA site and CAR's and then I came across this site and what a great idea! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

To be able to instruct in the U.S., first off you need an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) or work permit. Your converted certificates will do you no good without one as you won't be able to get a job.

As a FAA certificated pilot who has always had the right to work here, I am certainly not the authority on how to go about getting these things but you can find all the information on how to do so at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services & FAA websites:

Go here to find out about getting work permits-

Pilot certificate conversion-

A guide for conversion of Transport Canada certificates to FAA ones-

I suggest you contact the FAA directly for assistance with conversion questions:

Hope that helps
