Question
Sir,
My name is Brian and i have a concerning question i need to ask. I recently enlisted in the navy, leaving for camp on 2/7/2007. I am really interested in air traffic control. To make it short, my job in the navy is in fact AC. I am wondering, when i get out (5 years) i will not be able to get a job as ac in the civilian world. what is tthe probability of military receiving a job as ac at a civilian Airport. (5 years for feb 07)?

Answer
Hi Brian,
It's hard to say what will happen in 5 years.  However, if the policy of the FAA is the same as it is today, you should be able to get hired under the direct hire program.  Currently the FAA is hiring former military air traffic controllers.  The direct hire and the CTI programs are the only ways that I know of at the present time to get hired by the FAA.

Good Luck.
