Question
Thank you for such a quick response! I am 27, which is not too much over the 25 mark, so I think it would be wisest to attend a flight school that offers a degree and have both from the get go. How long do those schools generally take? Is there some kind of residency available or will I have to work full time and school part time?

Also, can you recommend any in print books that describe the pilot experience well (not manuals but personal accounts)?

Thank you for taking the time to help.

Answer
Hi, Stacey:

There is a very good listing of colleges and universities that offer aviation that is available from the University Aviation Association:  www.uaa.aero or call them at
334-844-2434  It is entitled THE COLLEGIATE AVIATION GUIDE

Most of these schools are four year schools.  If you have any prior college work, that will cut down on the time.  But, also, the longer you are able to be in school and flight instruct for them (to build flight time, etc), the better.

There is good information on the flight experience available at www.aopa.org and also at the Women in Aviation International Website:  www.wia.org  Check for their facts brochure (available on line).

I hope that this is of help to you.

Best wishes,
