Careers: Flying & Aviation/Re-career as an airport manager - or other?

Question
Dottie:

I am a private pilot who works as a computer consultant.  I'm very interested in looking into a career I can love - aviation.  What does it take to become an airport manager?  What can I realistically expect to make at a small facility?  Larger facility?  What would be your suggestion to research this further?  Are there other careers you think I should consider as well?

Thanks!

Catherine

I can't comment on airport manager careers, but will refer you to Ms Noreen Crane. She is the Airport manager of Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA (San Diego area) and a fellow "99" (woman pilot). I am sure Noreen can anwser all your questions and provide excellent advice about such a career from a female perspective. Email - Crane@cox.net

As far as other jobs in the industry, I am not sure what you might want to pursue. I am a pilot, so I focus on career advice for aviators. However, perhaps you might find this site helpful in seeing what is out there:

Perhaps there is a career/position in their extensive database that will stir your fancy.
