Careers: Flying & Aviation/Scholarships

Question
Good afternoon Dottie,

I also attended ERAU and will be going back for grad school this January.  I'll be pursuing a MSM (Master of Science in Management) with the hope of working in ground/air based operations.  I'm looking for scholarships now that I'm on my own.  I've tried emailing and calling Riddle for financial aid help, to no avail.  Any insight you could provide will be greatly appreciated!

Little background, BS in Aerospace Studies, minors in Flight, ATC, and Meteorology.  Commercial single and multi-engine with instrument rating.

Kind Regards,

Megan Robertson

I keep a list of flight training scholarships that are one time awards to help defray the cost of training for those who are not necessarilly enrolled in a college aviation program. It sounds to me as if you are looking for an academic award to complete your masters. The only ones I can think of for schooling:

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship Award for attaining a Ph.D./doctoral degree in aerospace science or engineering programs. It's given by the womens organization Zonta. If you don't qualify for that one, maybe they have other grants:

Women In Aviation International also has lots of awards, and I think there are several are for academic pursuits. The Colleen Barrett (Southwest Airlines) award was for a woman in management. Unfortunately, the 2006 deadline has passed, but maybe next year you can apply for one-

Have you tried http://www.AvScholars.com? It has a huge list of av awards.

The National Business Aviation Association-

A big list, mostly for flight training, but you should check the donors out to see if they also offer academic awards as some give both-

The University Aviation Association may also be able to provide some assistance. Here is their affiliated institution awards page-

The ERAU listing of scholarship info (if you haven't seen it)-

Contact any professional organization in the field you are interested in and ask if they give awards. Most do give something.

Hope this helps,

Dot
