Question
My daughter is in 4th grade and she is doing a "Passport to California" project.
There is one part where she has to show the route from Illinois (where we used
to live) to California.  I was wondering if you could tell us what is the typical
route (states that we fly through) to get to California from Illinois.  Any help
would be so greatly appreciated.

Answer
HI Mary,
Sorry about the delay but I am not sure exactly what you are asking. A typical route from ORD (Chicago) to LAX (Los Angeles) could go a number of different ways depending on the wind and traffic.  A file containing an FAA playbook route can be found at http://www.fly.faa.gov/PLAYBOOK/pbindex.html  This is actually the arrival routes to ORD, but it should give you an idea of how the aircraft are routed.  I have searched the internet for flight plan information on ORD to LAX, but I can't find any.

If I can be of any further help please email me at dacus@iwon.com
