QuestionQUESTION: hello, My name is SGT. Casey in the NJ army nation guard and looking to go to uh-60 aviation mechanic training in October. how can i use the training in a civilian job?
ANSWER: Casey!
In the natl. guard when you complete training you will receive certificate and after when you are in duty natl guad will keep record about your training and your particular type of aircraft that you maintained. So when you decide to leave natl guard, you will receive same letter and certificate from your unit cmndr. With this letter and I think form 8090 or something similar you will visit FAA and they will give you another certificate that allow you to take civilian knowledge exams, based on your experience and training in natl guard. So when you pass all knowledge exams and practical exam with an designated examiner you will receive your temp license that will be good for civilian jobs.

QUESTION: so taking additional college courses would help?
AnswerCasey: You see army will give you training but their authorization will not be good for civilian world. In order to be an A&P in civilain world (USA) you will have to get licensed as I expalined you. Additional college courses like A&P courses will help no doubt.
