Question
Dear David,

Hi I'm Eric and I'm 15 years old. I've always been interested in flying and my goal is to become an airline pilot for a major airline. I was wondering what are some ways you can get finaincial aid for flight training through a university? Also how would I eventualy get the financial aid?

Thanks for your time.

Eric

Answer
Hi, Eric:

Nice to hear from you....I will try to assist.

As for some information on financial aid for flight training via a university, consult the following on-line sources:

THE UNIVERSITY AVIATION ASSOCIATION WEBSITE: www.uaa.aero

The above website has an aviation scholarship listing that can be accessed from the main page....just check the menu on the left hand side of the main page.

This website is also of help:  www.avscholars.com

The above website has some good aviation financial aid and scholarship information for college-bound aviation students and their parents.

Also, contact the University Aviation Association (website above) or via email at uaa@auburn.edu or by phone at 334-844-2434 to order this publication;  THE COLLEGIATE AVIATION GUIDE.  It contains a listing of virtually every college and university aviation degree program in the USA.  You would need to contact each university about their program costs, etc.

To apply for financial aid, either go to your high school counseling office to obtain a "FAFSA" application or go to www.fafsa.gov for an on-line financial aid application.  Make sure that, when you apply for financial aid via FAFSA that you have a list of three to five institutions in mind to which you would want FAFSA to send the results of their analysis of your financial aid needs.  The FAFSA figures are used by insitutions to estimate you financial aid awards from each institution that you are interested in attending.

I hope that this helps.  Please let me know if you have other questions via a follow up to AllExperts.com
