Question
I'm not a pilot yet, so I was wondering what it means when an ATC says on an ATIS  " you have juliet"  or "you have bravo"  thank you very much.

Answer
Dear Frank,
This ATIS is the Automatic Terminal Information System.  ATIS provides the pilot with a continuous broadcast of recorded airport weather and landing information. The sequence is updated using the letters of the phonetic alphabet.  As each weather sequence in changed a new letter is used.  Controllers know what the latest weather sequence is and when a pilot says “I have Bravo” and the latest sequence is Charlie, the controllers know that the pilot does not have the latest weather.

I hope this helps.
