Question
Hello, I'm currently trying to decide which is the best major that would suite me and I came across with Travel and Tourism Management, that I was thinking to do my associate on, but what I'm also really interested in Marketing as well, and hope to combine both, so I can peruse Marketing and Sales for Travel and Tourism Management. now is that something that can be done or yet even exists in the Hospitality world. Thank you for your help

Answer
Albina,

Yes, marketing and travel/tourism can and do go hand-in-hand especially considering the amount of sales/marketing necessary and utilized daily in the travel/tourism industry.

What I would suggest to you is that you pursue an associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality, which will give you a broader scope of the entire industry, including courses in marketing specific to the industry. One of the best "bachelor" programs that are offered Online for this industry is The University of Massachusetts-Online. You can find more information about the program here: http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/BSHospitalityTourismMgmt.html

Four things to keep in mind when comparing colleges:

1. Cost vs. value (Will I get the same, more or less?)
2. Content delivery (Instruction method, deadlines, and technical requirements)
3. Does the program and courses offered match my career goals/interests?
4. Is it accredited? (Visit chea.org to confirm)National or Regional accreditation is okay--so long as it is one of them and not a diploma mill.

Good luck!
