Question
Hello,
I have worked for 33 years as an auto mechanic, and at age 58 desire a career change. Searching the internet I came across an interesting job I thought I could and would enjoy, as a luggage handler at a better hotel. I'm afraid my resume ( 3 employers in 33 years, all working as a mechanic)doesn't exactly catch anyone's eye, unless, of course, they're looking for a mechanic. I personally feel some of my skills may be transferrable. Any ideas? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Kirby,
It certainly sounds like you have a good work ethic, something not often found today, and something I always looked for when considering a new employee. In the hotel business, its all about taking care of the guest. If you are polite and service oriented, you can learn the rest of what is required of you with on the job training. Go for it Kirby, submit an application at the best hotels you can find, dress to impress and I'd bet you get your job!

Good Luck!
